Islamorada Tarpon Hunt

islamorada_tarpon_fishing2Tarpon Fishing in the Florida Keys has been outstanding. In Islamorada specifically, the tarpon have been chewing! The crabs are the best bet,the mullet have been fazing out. The past week I have been averaging 2 Large fish per night. The bite in both Key Largo and Islamorada has been just before sunset into the night. My tackle of choice are Biscayne Rods, Shimano TLD 20 reel, 30lbs main line and 60lbs leader; with 7/0 Gamakatsu hooks. Good luck out there, please be courteous to others, and always try not to kill the fish by over fighting them. The water temperature is over 86 degrees so give them ample time to revive before the release.
